The socks of love

If anything in this world proves that I love my hubby (other than his dream Sunday dinner of roast chicken followed by sticky toffee pudding) it is these socks.

argyle socks

Seriously!  Argyle socks.

Knitted flat and seamed.

Learning to mattress stitch…still a way to go!

With the single stitch diamonds added in after in duplicate stitch (Swiss darning).

Just a smidge too big for me...sigh!

What kind of crazy is that, if not crazy in love?  I do love you, baby!

FYI…the pattern is taken from Country Weekend Socks and the yarn is Drops Fabel.

Awww! Anyone who gets such awesome socks must love you back!

Wow! Those look great. I’ll take a look a that book. I’ve just started a pair for my husband for Christmas but using a self patterning yarn which gives a look of fairisle.

I love self patterning yarn! Your husband is a lucky chap too. We were in Purl and Jane at the weekend and my hubby headed straight to the sock yarn and a skein was in my basket before I could say “dpns”!

    Wow! They are amazing!!
I have just (about) mastered the art of knitting plain socks but those are stunning.

    • Evie says:

Thank you. They aren’t that difficult, just time consuming, and my first attempt at intarsia so I’m pretty pleased with the result!

  4. Amazing – I think he loves you buckets full back though 😉

I have that book and I love looking at it! But I have yet to use it. 🙁 Soon, soon! I love your socks 🙂

    • Evie says:

Isn’t it a lovely book? I keep eyeing up the cover socks for me. Now they would take a while to knit!

  9. Vicki Kate says:

Yup. He’s a lucky man! Gorgeous socks Evie!

Argyle? Knitted flat and seamed? This is serious, big time, over the moon, everlasting love. For real. And if I lived closer to you, I would try to steal them because they are beautiful.

    • Evie says:

I swear if they were a teeny bit smaller I’d be stealing them for myself. And we’re living proof that true love does exist and is well worth waiting for! But you know that…. 😀

Um. Would it be churlish to point out you’ve missed a bit of over-stitching (while at the same time, admiring the inherent beauty of your work…) – or is it a design feature that the white line doesn’t go to the corner of the heel on the inside of the ankles…?
