Vicki Kate Makes…

…the most delightful dinner companion!

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that Vicki Kate has made some lovely Tofino pyjamas and was modelling them in her hotel room.

tofino vk

In Preston.

Which is very close to where I live.

So we agreed that the next time she came to visit we’d meet up.  Which is what we did last night.

Trying to explain to the mums at the school gate the nature of our friendship was fun. You guys get it, but the general response was “soooooo…you’re off to meet a random stranger you met on the internet?  On your own?   Oooooooooooookaaaaaaaaaaaay!”

Which just makes me laugh.

But not as much as I laughed last night.  Vicki is such wonderful company.  She’s smart and funny it felt like we’d known each other for ever and were just picking up from a conversation we’d had yesterday.  We talked about our kids, and sewing, and home making, and sewing.  About working mothers and crossfit and paleo diets.  We ate a delicious dinner (not paleo!) and talked some more.

We talked so much I completely forgot to take pictures.

Which, I think, is a pretty good indicator of a fun time!

I can’t wait to do it again.  Come back soon, VK.  And bring your menfolk with you.

“And you say you know what she looks like because you’ve seen a photo of her in her PJ’s?!?!?!”

Jealous – I so wished I’d met VK on my trip. She’s going to have to come to NY in 2014….

  3. Your post made me laugh! And I am also a bit jealous. It is wonderful meeting lovely people here in blogland but it must be so much nicer to meet them in reality.

    • It’s just lovely. And shows how the internet can really work to make the place a better world. I know it’s not always used like that, even by some in the sewing community, but I’m glad to say my experience has always been wonderful.

Reading this put a smile on my face. I love it when our bloggy/sewing pals materialize in real life, and feel like old friends from the start! So much in common, so much shared through our blogs, it’s just so cool!

  5. sewing peeps are always ace – i have yet to meet one i didn’t like (and i haven’t met VK either – boo!)

I had the best evening ever! I don’t think I have gabbed and laughed that much in ages! What with fabulous company, the serious jazz bar waiter and the absolute sweetie who took our money at the end of the meal it was just a fabulous evening! It really did feel as if we’d known each other for ever with no awkwardness at all, thank you so much for driving me round Preston and being so wonderful!

Hahaha, Normies just don’t get it! I have yet to have a negative experience with a blogger meet up.

I didn’t “know” Vicki Kate – just popped over and put her on my reader list! Glad you had such a good time with her!

Fun. Sigh. What wouldn’t I have given to invite myself over to the table. Blogger meet ups are the best! I am overdue for one.

  9. I’ve met a few fellow bloggers and they’ve all been fantastic – just waiitng to meet you now!

You are so right about meeting random peeps from the internet. I do it reasonably often – even just today 🙂 But “regular” people think it’s bizarre.

  11. So cool you met up! I feel that reading a person’s blog and sharing a hobby is enough to know them…hope you get to meet again

I would love to meet you two– I bet you’re both buckets of fun in real life! 🙂 So glad you were able to hang out! It does sound a bit creepy to other people when you try to explain that you met on the internet “but it’s not weird”. I’ve given up and just describe bloggy friends as “friends”. 🙂
