Bright lights, big city

There are only two things I miss about living in Guildford.

The first is being only a 20 minute walk from good shops, a decent cinema, a theatre and a fair selection of bars and restaurants.  Here, if we want to walk, we have a dodgy pub, 3 takeaways and a reasonable “GastroPub” .  Other than that, you’re in the car.

The other thing I miss is being a 30 minute train ride away from central London.  Now, obviously, this is a weekend journey.  I’ve known the morning or evening commute to take 3 1/2 hours.  Not fun.

But at the weekend, it’s a leisurely trip, with coffee and a magazine.  Oh, and a seat, which you can’t get for love nor money on a work day.

At this point, you’re probably wondering where on earth this is leading.  Well, I do have a point.  You see, on the 25th September I’m off to London for the day.

One my own.

No skiddlywinks.  No hubby to be.

Just me and a coffee and a magazine (and maybe a small knitting project for the journey).

Why?

Why, Ms Kelly of course! At the V&A.  Just squeaking in under the wire before the exhibition closes the following day.

I’m also planning to go to the Fashion and Textile Museum.

And Franks bookshop if I have time.

Oh. My. Good. Gosh. I’m beside myself with excitement.
