Brambles and strawberries

This morning I had a house full of knitterly friends who I invited over to share the promised blackberry and apple crumble cake.I love this cake.  It’s so seasonal and perfect with friends, yarn and coffee (or tea. Tea works equally well).

If you want me to share how to make it, let me know. This one has been decimated and The Husband will always be happy to see another coming out of the oven!

Strawberries are less seasonal.

Unless they’re the of the yarny variety. The yarn is Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk Aran in True Red.  The pattern is Fairhope by Dolce Handknits

and everyone commented this morning on just how much like a bowl of crushed strawberries this yarn looks.

That I’m actually knitting this means that I’ve knitted all of my stash yarn (cue loud cheering) except for the hot pink Debbie Bliss silk which is to be a final shawlette.   The Husband and I are going away for a little break later in the month (I KNOW….I can’t wait!) and I’m taking the pink with me then.  It’s perfect for knitting in the car.

So I owe you a few pictures but need to do the tedious sewing up/sewing in ends bits before I share.

Ooh yum yum. What a fab looking cake. Perfect with a cuppa and a good book. But not for knitting…. as that’s something I sadly can’t do !!

I would love the recipe for that cake! I have a freezer full of blackberries (I get a bit obsessed about picking them all) and I have just been given a bag of windfalls. Pretty please?
