Birthday

Today is my birthday!

I’m 46.

How that happened I really I have no idea…but it sure beats the alternative.

And to be fair I really wouldn’t be any other age.  I love my life and wouldn’t change a thing.

The Husband made supper tonight.  7 hour lamb, mashed potato, veggies.

Followed by Red Velvet Cake.

Yep!  Really! Red Velvet Cake.

Made by The Husband.

Because we had Red Velvet Cake at our wedding!

Big ‘ol softie!

I should point out two things:

1. This cake is even better in real life than in the pictures.  They were taken in artificial light, after several glasses of wine!

2. The Husband didn’t do this alone.  He had help.  From a 4 year old master baker who kept him on the straight and narrow!

I’d have shared pictures but I wasn’t allowed in the kitchen.

I was reliably informed that it was a secret!

Happy birthday! It looks like you had a great one. Funny enough my husband cooked me dinner and baked me a cake for my birthday as well! We are lucky to have men who know their way around in the kitchen 🙂

Oh, what a gorgeous cake! I can’t believe your husband and son made it! And congrats on your latest age. Every one is a new chance at experience!

      Thank you…it’s delicious!
We don’t let The Boy loose on cake mix…none would get in the tin! 🙂 He loves it so. Button, on the other hand, is quite a taskmaster in the kitchen and had a fabulous time bossing Daddy around and keeping me out of the way. I was firmly dispatched to my knitting group to enable them to work in peace.

    🙂

  5. Oh happy birthday happy birthday happy birthday to you. How wonderful you were spoiled with deliciousness, and hopefully other treats too.

  6. Belated but very happy greetings to you! Sounds like it was a marvellous day and I won´t get in a huff that I´m a year older than you 😉 Actually, I thought you were about 10 years younger so it´s true that children keep you young 🙂

Oh thank you! I’ll take 10 years younger! The Husband was berated recently by some co-workers who thought I was 20 years younger! He dispatched them to the opticians. I skipped around the house in glee! Although after all that wine last night I feel 10 years older! 🙂

  7. Evie…so sorry for the delay! just catching up on my reader! Happy Birthday. When I read your age I was speechless. You look so so much younger..do you think it’s the cake or the husband? :o)

    • PendleStitches says:

Well…you have just completely made my day! Thank you for the birthday wishes and for the lovely comment!
I suspect it’s a combination of both! 😉 I’m not giving up either…just in case.
